Regional conditions

The same slab does not fail the same way in Richmond and Whistler.

Richmond's water table drives vapour up through slabs on grade continuously, which makes moisture testing and vapour-tolerant priming the deciding factor rather than a formality. The North Shore carries airborne chlorides off the inlet on top of heavy winter road salt, so chloride resistance is a baseline there instead of an upgrade.

Whistler runs eighty or more freeze–thaw cycles a season and intense summer ultraviolet at altitude, which demands a membrane that stays flexible cold and a fully aliphatic wear coat. Victoria stays damp long enough that carbonation, not chloride, is frequently what reaches the steel — a slower mechanism that calls for a different intervention.

Downtown Vancouver's constraint is rarely technical at all. It is access: hotels, towers and mixed-use buildings that cannot give up a ramp during business hours, which is why so much of our downtown work happens overnight.
